CHANGE ON THE HORIZON: WE ARE GETTING PREPARED

In our previous newsletter, we shared the exciting news that our five-year strategy (2025–2030) has been approved. This revised strategy reflects both the ongoing evolution of the mining industry and the insights we continue to gain through our public–private partnership hub-and-spoke collaboration model. It also takes into consideration the shifting global and local contexts in which we exist and operate.

As part of this journey, we have begun laying the foundations and building the architecture for the road ahead. This includes modernising MMP’s systems and ways of working, from streamlining administration, to strengthening how we engage with stakeholders, and even reassessing whether our research programmes are structured to best align with industry needs.

To guide this transformation, we have started a Change Management process led by our Successful Application of Technologies Centred Around People (SATCAP) Programme. We recently kicked off the process with an introductory session that explored:

  • Building awareness and understanding of the revised MMP strategy and the key drivers for change.
  • Discussing how these changes support both the MMP and the wider mining industry.
  • Creating space to share initial thoughts, concerns, and opportunities, and to reflect on what agility during change can look like.
  • Preparing the MMP team for a short Strengths Finder assessment to help identify our strengths and how they can support new ways of working.

Upcoming follow-up sessions will take us deeper into the change process, focusing on how we put change into practice. With change on the horizon, we have an opportunity to become stronger, more agile, and more closely aligned with our purpose.
