Tell us about yourself and what you do

My name is Letlhogonolo Dibe and I am the Group Assistant for the Mandela Mining Precint. My role entails providing administrative support to the whole MMP staff complement.

What defining moment or experience set you on your path, and how has it shaped who you are today?

My defining moment was earning my degree while working as a cashier at Shoprite, which led to my first administrative role at the Department of Housing. There, I developed a strong foundation in administration, and over the years, I’ve built my career through experiences at National Treasury, the South African Cities Network, and the CSIR.

In what ways do you hope your journey will inspire and pave the way for future generations of women in your field?

Embrace every opportunity to learn something new. Stay adaptable and open to diverse ventures in your career.

What values and principles have guided you throughout your career and life, helping you to forge your unique path?

Respecting and valuing others, practicing patience and trusting the process, embracing humanity, and aligning with organizational culture have been my guiding principles.

What’s a book, movie, or song that has had a significant impact on your life or career and how?

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This book taught me that in the pursuit of our dreams, we will inevitably face challenges, but perseverance is key. Every person we encounter on our journey, much like colleagues, offers valuable lessons that shape our understanding of life. By listening to our hearts, we discover our purpose, and in doing so, we cultivate strength, self-love, self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of others and the world around us.

What’s your go-to hobby or activity that helps you unwind after a long day?

Road trips to different places and learning about different cultures and architecture.

I am too magnificent to give up on my hope and dreams.
