The Mandela Mining Precinct aims to be the vehicle to facilitate healthy, safe, innovative, transformative, and economically (HSITE) viable and sustainable solutions to advance the South African Mining Cluster first, to drive these solutions for SADC and ultimately for the benefit of the African continent.
Mission
The Mandela Mining Precinct will achieve its vision in support of the attainment of HSITE by facilitating:
Collaborative research, development and innovation between the research community, mining companies, government and equipment manufacturers;
The development of skills, capacity and capability in mining R&D and innovation;
The development of local technological solutions for uptake by local mining equipment manufacturers; and
The creation of infrastructure for developing and testing mining technologies, and for industrial training through, for instance, the establishing of an industry test mine.
