The MMP participated in the MEMSA Mind Shift: Innovation, AI and Industrial Resilience in Focus conference, on 21–22 May 2026, at the IDC Conference Centre.

Researchers, mining professionals, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and industry stakeholders discussed the relevance of South African Manufacturers in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

A key theme throughout the event was the importance of innovation and collaboration, which strongly aligns with MMP’s commitment to keeping South Africa relevant within an industry that is ever-changing, ensuring that manufacturers and mining operations keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies. MMP’s Executive Director, Julie Courtnage, expressed that the most rewarding aspect for her was “meeting the people who make innovation happen”.

The event also highlighted the challenges faced by South African OEMs while showcasing technologies that have evolved in response to the demands of the mining industry. The Innovation for Mining and Excellence Awards recognised various OEMs that have contributed to South Africa’s industrial growth through advanced manufacturing solutions that deliver exceptional results.
